Can of Music Instead of a Can of Pennies

Instead of scaring our pets, we can help them relax

I have written extensively about why we shouldn't startle our pets with cans of pennies, water bottles and the like. We have also talked about how noise affects our pets and how things like Through a Dog's Ear can help our pets.

We recently found out about a new product from the makers of "Through a Dog's Ear" called the "iCalmDog." It's almost shaped like a small can. While the can of pennies can make a nervous dog more nervous, the iCalmDog might be able to relax dogs. And relaxed dogs are less likely to bark frantically (one of the reason's people shake cans of pennies at their dogs).

I like that this is small and portable and can operate without electricity - might come in handy when power goes out during a thunderstorm. We might add this to our checklist of things to have on hand for fireworks holidays.

The dogs and I like these so much, we are trying to win some extra ones to donate to a local shelter. If you are interested in getting a free one, see the contest rules here
