Good Cops

In my last post, I wrote about things that pet parents can do to possibly protect their pets from shootings.
While pet guardians should always be prepared, we should not fear all first responders.

When I was an animal shelter worker, I often saw police people bring in stray animals.

Although stories of pets getting hurt are more likely to make the news, I was able to find some stories of law enforcement personnel who helped pets:

Ariz. Trooper Rescues Small Dog From Highway

Sheriff braves fire to save couple's dog

Police Officer Adopts 'Vicious' Pit Bull

Tiny Puppy Steals the Heart of Deputy Who Rescued Him

Texas Police Officer Shuts Down Highway to Save Dog

This is just a sampling of all the stories that I was able to find. And of course there are many more stories of compassion that don't make the news.

  1. Awww, thanks for the touching stories. When it comes to dogs, I think most police are good, a few are bad, and some are just scared/uninformed.

  2. Thanks for posting this - nice to see some positive stories too since the media tends to accent the negative which makes everyone think that is reality. Reality is probably a mixture.

  3. Thanks Brenda and UnCesar. I agree. Most cops are good. But we are going to hear about the tragedies
