While pet guardians should always be prepared, we should not fear all first responders.
When I was an animal shelter worker, I often saw police people bring in stray animals.
Although stories of pets getting hurt are more likely to make the news, I was able to find some stories of law enforcement personnel who helped pets:

This is just a sampling of all the stories that I was able to find. And of course there are many more stories of compassion that don't make the news.
Awww, thanks for the touching stories. When it comes to dogs, I think most police are good, a few are bad, and some are just scared/uninformed.
